Young Seekers Science Exhibition — 1977
3 August 1977 — From a Dainik Barta report. In its founding year, Anushandhanee — then also known as "Young Seekers" — held a science exhibition at Rajshahi College.
In its founding years, Anushandhanee operated under two names — Bangla and English. The English name was “Young Seekers” — a literal translation of Anushandhanee.
A Dainik Barta staff report from 3 August 1977 covers the event: on the previous Sunday afternoon, an exhibition was held at Rajshahi College, where members of “Young Seekers” displayed instruments and tools they had built themselves.
Exhibits included: barometer, distance meter, plant growth meter, rain gauge, thermopile, spring scale, sand timer, fungus collection, insect collection, periscope, naphthalene dance demonstration, cork boat, balloon boat, cinema model, and tests for fats, starches, and sugars in everyday foods — among many others.
The report also notes that a working committee had been formed shortly before — at a meeting in the Rajshahi College teachers’ lounge, chaired by Mr. Latifur Rahman, principal of New Degree Government College. The five-member committee elected: Zafrul Islam as Director, Fouzi Bin Farid as Organizer, Mostafa Hossain as Office Secretary, Jalaluddin Ahmed as Library Secretary, and Hasibul Hossain as Project Secretary.
Several of these names remain woven through Anushandhanee’s history today — the architects of its foundation.
